It's more than a Fair Weekend...

In keeping with our annual tradition we headed to the Western Idaho Fair Saturday with Matt, Brit and Tate.  The temperatures were in the high 90's and the smoke haze was hanging low - not exactly ideal conditions for an outing but we went nonetheless.  Matt was home and scheduling overrode basic common sense.

Afterwards we returned home for dinner with both boys and their wives.   We spent several hours playing a very competitive game of Cranium...  after a very slow "read the game rules over again" start there were plenty of laughs shared at everyone's expense.

This was the first time we've seen the newlyweds since the wedding weekend.  They appear to be adapting well to their shared life.

Matt was laid off work near Mt Home last week and within two hours was heading to his new job site in Bliss.  It's an extra 30 minutes to his commute from home so they decided he would take the camper over and stay week days in the RV Park and drive home on weekends.  It's a new site for Turbines and he is part of the crew building roads at this point.

Erin and Chris checked in after Chris' birthday week.  Erin is through her first trimester and starting to feel better.  More energy which undoubtedly is why she is so much more active and often in need of a nap.  Pace yourself girlie.  I'm thrilled she's feeling better.

The past two weeks have been a bit of adjustment for Mom and Pops.  Empty nesting isn't new to us but it's been awhile so we are adjusting.

I've struggled with the routine...  the schedule...  or lack of one.  Since Christmas '09 we've had 'wedding on the brain'.  First Erin and Chris' wedding plans, travel arrangements, last minute changes and search for JOP, etc.  We had the entire month of October last year unadorned with wedding talk before K2 became engaged in November...  the rest is history.

Our involvement as parents of the groom was less involved.  Most of what we learned about wedding plans was from the bride's mom or FB.  We let our involvement include creating a backyard suitable for the rehearsal dinner.  And just for grins we threw in a 12 day road trip to Wisconsin and back just prior to the wedding.

This weekend, the fair and game night, may be exactly what we needed to get up off the sofa again.  I have paint chips and ideas once again!
